Jack Layton and the NDippers in the House have not had a good week...to say the least.
Yesterday they had to apologise for another drive by smear. This time it was the Liberals who had been the target during the election campaign almost two years ago.
At the same time, the Dipper who was at the centre of the porn smear from the day before was not in the House. While her colleagues tried desperately to distance themselves from her...telling all and sundry that Irene Mathyssen would be rising to apologise at the first opportunity...the same Mathyssen was back in her riding telling the London Free Press that her only mistake was in not talking to the victim of her loose tongue first. This story is not done yet. What will her colleague Pat Martin say now?
It should also be noted that the Liberal Whip, Karen Redman, had the good sense to realise that her "piling on" on the Mathyssen smear the day before was wrong. She DID apologise...unlike the Dipper.

I remember when Bob Hunter from Greenpeace and city tv tried to run for Ontario politics and Marilyn Churley of the NDP lied so much about him that the poor guy was looked upon as a child abuser which came from some stories he had written...now I use to hear Bob say he used Lsd and pot but to accuse him of abusing children was way out of line...he would have made a damn good minister but he never ran again...and Churley she is still lying about someone else.,,,you can see her on with the rest of the fabricators on 'MDLIVE'
And yet, despite all this short-term furor, I guarantee this matter will be a distant memory within weeks. Yet, if the exculpatory evidence hadn't been put forth so fast, this would have run rampant in the press for weeks. The "piling on" of which this blog speaks would have become a complete circus.
That's the way it goes when the accused is a white male, and the accusation is racism/sexism/etc. Guilty until proven innocent, and don't even bother trying to allege libel or slander. It's all part of the great political-correctness machine.
Neither of these MP's should be appologizing. It is much like women unfortunately to appologize for something men have doner wrong. The guy was wrong. It doesn't matter who the picture was of.
It's highschool garbage and it doesn't belong in the house and he should be disciplined by the speaker for demeaning all Canadian women and wasting our tax dollars with his fantasies.
The it's my girlfriend defence is meaningless. I had a boy in one grade eleven class threaten to slap the girl sitting next to him with the back of his hand for speaking up in class. When I took him outside the class the room and told him he couldn't threaten girls in my class for having an opinion, He said, "It's ok miss. She's my girlfriend."
It's NOT OK, even if it is his girlfriend and it is demeaning to all Canadian women call it what you want, soft porn cheesecake, tasteless crap, glam phots. I don't give a shit. photos of semi nude or nude women do not belong on members laptops in the House of Commons.
The respnmse of bloggers has been disgusting as usual and these women should absolutely not apologize.
BTW you've got a real funny sense of what's WRONG Bizarro. I wouldn't work behind that crap as a female memberof parliament and for a Party that is still in the relm of the 19th century with regards to female members we really should be supporting the female members in the house a little bit more.
The lip service this party pays to wanting more female MP's and then continuing to make sure that doesn't happen by supporting this kind of crap is disgusting. I'd rather this party was honest and just stopped using women for votes.
It's vintage Mathyssen. I have worked elections against her and she has planted questions at all candidate meetings accusing her opponent of child support arrears and spousal abuse. We have sworn statements from her volunteers that they were suppose to say those things at the doors and on the phones. She contacts ex-wives and girlfriends (personally, she doesn't cover her tracks)looking for dirt. She is a nasty person who refuses to shake hands with other candidates. In one of her concession speeches at the victor's headquarters, she spoke for twenty minutes on how stupid everyone in the room was for supporting them and not her.
I won't comment on Matthyssen (except to note how extraordinarily badly she's handled this and continues to handle this).
But the comment on Bob Hunter gets on my nerves. No disrespect to the dead, but if Bob Hunter didn't want to be accused of sleeping with children he shouldn't have written a non-fiction book about how he sleeps with kids.
If Stephen Harper had written a book about a character named Stephen Harper who has sex with child prostitutes and published it as a work of non-fiction, how would Liberals react?
Just asking.

It's just more evidence of why the NDP can only rise to the occasion of being a third rank opposition party and never actually govern. Provincially, in some parts of the country, the NDP has matured. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, possibly NS and previously in BC, the New Democrats learned that over-reactive screaming and rampant accusatory positions on everything, day in and day out, only served to motivate a small core of whackjob socialists. While some of those provincial NDP parties have moved away from such childish antics, Jack Layton has made it the federal NDPs mantra and modus operandi. He's a freak. One day he's accusing Paul Martin of murdering homeless people. Then its Judy wasserwassername and the Ralph Goodale allegations, then its the Libby Davies episode, and now this. Always desperately seeking a headline with no proof, no reason, no afterthought.
Maybe they should all just get out of politics and go back to stealing jewelry.
